American Indians... dont really know.
What have the repercussions (positive and negative) of culturally fueled Police brutality cases?
Positive:
1. Abusive police officer has been disciplined or removed from the local police force
2. Chiefs of police that have allowed or encouraged excessive force have been exposed and often fired (Daryl Gates of LAPD)
3. Social awareness of abusive officers has helped lead to reforms in standards and practices for police agencies
Negative:
1. Police lose some of their power to control dangerous situations due to fear of reprisals.
2. Ethnic groups amplify their ';victim mentality'; in some instances when someone in their ethnic group probably really DID need their assss beaten to get them under control
3. Criminals become emboldened knowing that they can get away with much more now that police officers have been hobbled in their aggression.
