We've finally reached a cultural point where we can deal with it openly. The Spanish film maker Almodovar was sexually abused as a child and has included pedophia in each of his films to bring it to the public's attention. He's done this since the 1980s.What is with all these sad cases of incest abuse now?
Society is just now beginning to reach the point where we can deal with the problems caused by sexual abuse of all kinds, including treatment for victims and early intervention programs. Incest has always been around - Cleopatra married her brother - but only in recent years did we realize that something could be done to prevent or treat abuse. Previously, such problems were always swept under the rug and hidden behind closed doors. This was partly because blame was laid on the handiest person - usually the victim or the whistle-blower. But we are more aware of it now because it is being brought out into the open more freely. It is estimated in a recent study that up to 20 percent of college age women have been approached sexually by a family member, so it is by no means uncommon.
Ever since men have had a certain piece of equipment, rapes of all kinds and with all types of victims (incest, ';stranger'; attacks, war rape, gang rape, partner rape, attacks on children, other men, even animals) have been happening. There is just more widespread publicity these days.





Why do certain men rape? Because they want to, and they can. To this type of human filth, a helpless young daughter is the perfect victim. Some of them start when their kids are babies. I know what I'd do to them.
We are hearing more about them because the german Fritzl case has got our attention as they are so near to us...the other cases in Italy and Mexico would never have gotten the attention of the Western media if it were not for Fritzl....it's going on ALL the time.
It isn't anything new been going on forever I suppose but it gets lots of media attention now.
It is just so sickening. Just when you thought you have heard it all. It makes me want to throw up every time I hear about it.
Always ... just not always brought out into the open, discussed ... penalized.
