The Maquiladoras in Mexico. I'm not sure if its currently in the news, but definitely still occuring. Many American companies put factories in places such as Tijuana and pay the workers as little as $10 a week. There are many interesting, yet disturbing facts about this issue such as secretly giving the women who work there birth control pills which they claim to be vitamins in order to prevent having to pay higher medical insurance.
