The only time I can see getting a person's loved-ones in on a ';brainwashing'; would be when they believe that person to be a danger to themselves or others (i.e. a drug use intervention).

Enforcing truancy laws is the main thing I can think of, and I don't oppose this, although I have much contempt for what is being called education in the US public school system these days.





Let's face it, responsible parents send their children to school or home-school them. My son is in public schools and I want the government making sure he isn't skipping out after I drive him to school.





Then there's the involvement of the government in mental illness and illegal drug crimes, but I do realize this could cross over into bad territory if the term ';mental illness'; is not carefully monitored. These are reasons to know some conservative attorneys, btw.





I suppose liberals could view religious education as brainwashing. Tough--we have a government that upholds freedom of religion and the rights of parents to rear their children according to their beliefs.

That's why my kids have been home schooled..and their scores have reflected the fact that I made the right choice. I raised them to be ';educated'; not just obnoxious and ';opinionated';
